There are two basic types of switches, managed and unmanaged, as the basis of the network.

Routers

Access points

The access point acts like a network amplifier. While the router provides bandwidth, the access point
extends its bandwidth, allowing the network to support many devices and make those devices
accessible from the network farther.
However, the access point does more than just extend Wifi. It also provides useful data about devices
on the network, provides proactive security, and can serve many other practical purposes. Access
points support different IEEE standards. Each standard is an amendment ratified over time. This
standard works with changes in frequency, transmission of different bandwidths, and support for
different number of channels.
Wireless networking

based on on-premise and will be installed in a centrally managed location.
Converged deployment
Small campus and branch offices have consistent wireless and wired connections in an integrated
deployment. This deployment integrates wired and wireless into a single network device
(access switch) and serves as both a switch and a wireless controller.
Cloud-based deployment
This system uses the cloud to manage the local network devices installed in different locations. The
solution requires a Cisco Meraki cloud management device. This device fully visualizes the network
through the dashboard.
